The Quilt

The domestic wing of the series, at its most tender and most quietly damning. A sleeper wrapped in a patchwork of handwritten pages, the seams stitched in red like margin rules — sleeping inside the ledger. On the nightstand, a glass of water on a doily of ruled paper. The pages here drifted from ledgers toward letters during generation, and the drift was kept: what covers you at night is correspondence, obligation, record. Warmth and bookkeeping in the same fabric, indistinguishable.
